Summer Time Treats

If these are the Dog Days of summer, count me in! I'm happy to be sure that each little empty carton of Raspberry Sorbet is squeaky clean before it goes into the bin.

It's not Chocolate Fudge Brownie, but I'll survive.

Happy Auggiversary To Me!

Today JK and Mr. Wolf and I celebrated our Second Auggiversary! It has been two years since the day JK and Mr. Wolf brought me home to live with them. I didn't even remember that Auggiversary was coming up, but JK sang "Happy Auggiversary, Happy Auggiversary" to me this morning when we got up for our early walk, and I also noticed the special banner hanging in the kitchen.

My people had something special planned for tonight, so I was very excited when JK got home so we could party!

I let them take some silly pictures with the pretty banner, but I could smell that there was a special dinner in the works.

Look at that fancy dinner plate! Just for me! All my very favorite things to eat in the whole world, all on one plate!
strips of organic grilled chicken from the deli, one slice of goat cheese, my  new favorite crunchy treat, and RASPBERRIES in a star!!! The Best Dinner Ever!

I almost couldn't believe it was all for me. I ate my dinner like Mr. Wolf does - one food at a time. First Chicken, then cheese, then treat, and save the Raspberries for the last gobble.

A very Happy Auggiversary Dinner indeed! Three Cheers for Rescue Pups! Check out YOUR local rescue for the best dogfriends you will ever meet.

Jackie Came to Visit Me!

(Transcriber's note - Aug started this post while Jackie was visiting, but I had trouble uploading the last few photos while she was here last week)

My friend Jackie came to visit me! I am so excited that she is here! She came to see JK and Mr. Wolf as well, but she has spent a lot of time lounging with me which I like very much.

Jackie hurt her foot right before she arrived, so we have spent a lot of time on the couch together. It's great.

Miss Jackie likes to read 2 books at one time.

She's giving me bunny-ears, isn't she?
Another great thing about Jackie's visit is that she also likes cheese. In fact, we all like cheese so much, that JK bought some special cheese just to share with her while she is in town. I had never had this fancy cheese before, but luckily Jackie shared with me.

You know what else JK and Jackie like to do? They like to sit out in the sun on the porch with snacks and cool drinks. Excellent. I like that too.

My my - is that cheese you have there?

And Jackie likes to give me pets and scratches while she is working on the computer. I'll just stand right here under her so she can do that.

Miss Jackie let's me share shot-gun with her on the way to the park. Whoo-hoo! The Park!

AND Jackie lets me get comfy on her lap for the drive home, even though I am all hot and sweaty from our long walk at Lake Lynn. She even let me stick my head out of the window for a second.

Jackie had something delicious to eat on her last day in town. I was very hopeful that she would share it with me. So I waited politely for her to put her fork in the bowl...

Ya done yet?

Hoooray! Success! I got to lick the bowl and she even left me a small bit of her tasty lunch to try.

And now Miss Jackie has gone home to Chicago, so I don't need wake her up in the morning with a visit and a pounce up onto the edge of the bed.

Boo. I miss Miss Jackie.
We miss you, Miss Jackie! Come visit again soon!

Getting Settled. Again.

We moved AGAIN. Yes, again. JK and Mr. Wolf and a friend of JKs put all of our boxes into a great big truck and drove us to another new house. I know that this time we are going to stay for a long time, because JK and Mr. Wolf have been busily unpacking boxes and putting everything into a proper place. I have been helping.

While Mr. Wolf took all of the paper and wrapping out of the boxes, I pushed it all into a big pile with my nose and feet. Then I took a nap in the pile. JK wanted to get a picture of me in my paper nest, but of course as soon as I heard her coming with the camera, I jumped up and stood proudly next to my paper nest. See how happy I am to show off all my hard work?

Mr. Wolf says I am a great helper.
I'm also happy to be in a place that has sidewalks. I am very hopeful that I might find some misplaced food in our neighborhood. I haven't found any yet, but JK promised me we would walk to the gas station when it gets a little warmer. She thinks there will probably be tacos and hot dogs in the dirt there like we had in Chicago.
If there is food out here, I will find it.
All the moving and unpacking and exploring make me very tired. I am glad to have the same bed and the same soft pillows that we had in the big city.
Back to work tomorrow!

Thanksgiving! Food!

Happy Thanksgiving Blog Friends!

Mr. Wolf and JK and I celebrated Thanksgiving with Mr. Wolf's family this year. I could tell it was going to be a good night because I could smell all the delicious food when we arrived! JK made me a little plate of the person food, and I was so excited I pushed the plate around on the floor to lick up every little bit.
JK made me a plate

It was a special, fancy Thanksgiving plate and it had turkey, potatoes, green beans, and squash for me to eat.

I ate the turkey first

And then I had to sleep it off.
We hope you all got to celebrate Thanksgiving with your family and your friends, and that you got to share lots of tasty food! JK and Mr. Wolf talked about all the things that they are thankful for. I am thankful for lots of food, for JK and Mr. Wolf, for a warm safe place to live, and lots of toys and friends and treats. And I'm thankful for my blog friends! I know that not all dogs have so many great things. It is good to be thankful.

Of course, what Thanksgiving Food Blog Story would be complete without some ratings?

Food: Thanksgiving Dinner!
Rating: 4 out of 5 Cheesy Treats
Highlights: Special food for a special day, fancy plate, warm turkey and mashed potatoes
Problems: No cheese on my dinner plate, too many green beans and not enough turkey. And Thanksgiving is only once a year.

Gingerbread Medicine

Mr. Wolf isn't feeling well. He has been sitting on the couch, relaxing and drinking tea. And I have been sitting with him, relaxing but not drinking tea. I nestle into his knees and keep one eye open in case any tasty food appears.

What? JK sat down with a cookie?? Right next to MEEEE?

I see you are eating a cookie. And it does not have chocolate on it!
JK brought a cookie to Mr. Wolf too, to make him feel better and they each gave me a nibble:

Hoooray!

Yum! That was a delicious gingery cookie!

Food: Gingerbread Cookie
Rating: 3 out of 5 Cheesy Treats
Highlights: Crunchy, tasty, nice and spicy. Bonus points for lots of crumbs to eat off of the couch.
Problems: The samples only came in tiny nibble sizes, no cheese, not very sweet.

I never met a treat I didn't like. Until today.

Mr. Wolf's sister Nina gave me a present last week - PupCakes!

Pupcakes are like cupcakes, but they are made just for dogs. I gobbled two of them right away, and Mr. Wolf saved the third one for later.

I was so excited to eat it!

But then,

I didn't.

Just wasn't feeling this one.
I just encountered the first treat I did not eat.

Fancy Gourmet PupFood

I am pleased to announce that I am now a Fancy Gourmet Pup. No more cans of sticky dog food or bags of dry kibble! Nosirree. JK and Mr. Wolf decided that from now on, all my food will be made at home using healthy, organic ingredients.  Mr. Wolf says that home made food will keep all the nasty chemicals and preservatives in store-bought food out of my body, and save money. If they save money on my AugFood, then they have more money to spend on treats! Yay!

Are you cooking something delicious for ME?
JK cooked my food in a great big pot yesterday. She made a lot at once, so that she could put some of the AugFood in the freezer for later.

It doesn't look that tasty, but I liked it.

As you can see.
JK found the instructions for the new food in a big book about healthy food for dogs. It has beans, a grain called millet, cottage cheese, egg, and a powder that has lots of vitamins and good things in it. I like it because it has cheese in it.

I'm glad that JK and Mr. Wolf decided to start cooking for me. I like having dinner time with them while they eat their person food.

Raspberries - My Second Favorite Food

Have you had any raspberries this summer? Wow! I didn't even know how much I liked fresh raspberries until JK let me eat one!

What is this delicious-smelling treat?

I gobbled that first raspberry so quickly, JK gave me another one. But this time, I ran with it into the bedroom.

Guarding the Raspberry while I decide where to hide it.
I was so happy to have another raspberry that I got a little silly. I licked it and rolled it on the floor, and then pounced on it and tried to hide it under the bed.
I should save this for later.
I was afraid JK might take it away from me, so right after I lunged at it one more time, I chomped it up and swallowed it quick.

Delicious Red Raspberries
Rating: 5 out of 5 Cheesy Treats!
Highlights: Sweet, squishy, juicy, and my new favorite non-cheese food
Problems: Raspberries get hairy and furry if you lick them and then roll them on the carpet. And I like to roll mine on the carpet.

JK got a new camera

JK got a fancy new camera, and she has been trying to sneak up on me to take photos.

Sometimes I run away, but sometimes I am tired so I let her take the pictures.  Here are some of them:

I'm a handsome pup.

I was distracted by Mr. Wolf's potato.

Hooray! Bites of warm potato!
Since she is still learning how to take fancy pictures with her fancy camera, you'll probably be seeing many more photos of me on the blog soon.

My Happy Auggiversary!

Today JK and Mr. Wolf and I celebrated my one year Auggiversary! I came home to live with JK and Mr. Wolf one year ago today! It has been a great year.

They threw me a little party, and we did other fun things today to celebrate.

This morning, JK hung this banner in the apartment and Mr. Wolf came to hold me up so we could get an Auggiversary picture.

JK also surprised me with a small cake made out of round slices of cheese! I got to eat it all myself! It even had a festive flag on top.

Cheese! My favorite thing! How did they know?

The Cheese Cake was so delicious. And so was the lickable writing on the plate!

After I had eaten my plate of cheese and licked my name off the platter, JK and Mr. Wolf gave me my Auggiversary present - a brand new bed! With a big soft neck rest all the way around it! They even gave me a matching sheet so I can burrow. I went right away to get Pig and Lion so they could try it out with me.

My soft friends like the new bed very much!
And I decided to try it out while JK and Mr. Wolf got their other bags together to set off for our Auggiversary adventure.
Now I can rest my head all the time! Joy.
We got in the car and drove to another house where some friends of JK and Mr. Wolf live. They have a big back yard, with a garden and flowers. They also have two small people who live in their house and like to chase after me. But I liked them, so we played together in the yard.
It was hot out, and I ran a lot.
Today was a great Auggiversary! JK and Mr. Wolf love me a lot.

Tasty Summer Fruit

JK and Mr. Wolf shared some pup-friendly fruits with me this weekend! The fruit was so delicious, JK couldn't even take pictures fast enough to get a picture of the fruit itself. It was already in my mouth by the time the picture clicked.

Strawberries! Yum!

Cool, crispy apples! My favorite!
I have to chomp big chomps to eat apple chunks, so I always look funny when I eat it. JK and Mr. Wolf think that this is hilarious, but I don't mind that they laugh at me as long as they give me MORE apples to eat! Oh, I love them so. (My people AND my apples).

Foods: Strawberries and apples
Rating: 4 out of 5 Cheesy Treats
Highlights: Crunchy, sweet, healthy, and delicious
Problems: No cheese with the fruit

A busy day in the country

Everyone at our house woke up pretty early this morning, even though it was Saturday, and usually we do not get up early on Saturdays. I was not very happy when the alarm went off. I didn't know what we were going to do today.

JK always says "Auggie is in the right family". She said it again when I wanted to stay in bed this morning.
Then after a lot of busy packing and talking, we set off in the car. I like car rides. I like them even better when I can see where we are going.
Me on Mr. Wolf's lap.
When we got out of the car, we were at a very big house where lots of people were moving big boxes from one place to another. JK was afraid that I might get stepped on, so she put me in the Pup Bag.
I was pretty comfy to ride around most of the day.
Jackie was there too, and sometimes she took a turn carrying me in the Pup Bag. I was glad to see her. There were lots of strangers there, so it was nice to see a familiar face.

I also found out that the Dog In Charge at the country house is named Angus, and he lived at this house for a long time before it became an empty house with no one living in it.

Now he lives with a new family, and they brought him with them when they came to help move the boxes. It was a very long day, and when there were fewer people and fewer piles on the floor, JK let me run around and explore. I even got a real Hot Dog! Cooked on a grill! Oh, that was very delicious. JK's brother made it for me, and I ate it very happily.  I am ready for a long nap now, but I can see why they are sad to leave the country house behind. It is very beautiful there.

Food: Hot Dog cooked on the grill
Rating: 4 out of 5 cheesy treats
Highlights: warm tasty meat! what's not to like?
Problems: A little difficult to chew, and I really wanted to try it with the bread part like everyone else was eating it.
